This is "Three Kings Day", and there are three primary events that are celebrated during this season. The revelation of Christ to the Magi (the manifestation of God in human form), His baptism, and the first demonstration of His power as He turned water to wine. This is one of the most ancient traditions/feast days of the church and there is lots out there about how awesome it is and why we should truly look forward to it. Personally, I see it as my start to the year. It just feels like a new and beautiful beginning.

The word I heard was: 'Mystery'

I am fascinated with the fact: GOD CAME LOOKING FOR US.

The materials: 24gauge steel wire and Abalone. [A mollusk, the shell itself is very "strong, resilient and iridescent, made of 'microscopic calcium carbonate stacked like bricks upon one another." It is called: Nacre "NAY-ker" aka Mother-of-Pearl. Now if the wiki page is to believed this is what fascinates me about it: an organic-inorganic composite material and "it appears iridescent because the thickness of the aragonite platelets is close to the wavelength of visible light. This results in constructive and destructive interference of different wavelengths of light resulting in different colors of light being reflected at different viewing angles."] There's a tension of the opposition of the material and its collision with light that makes me know it is absolutely RIGHT for Epiphany. I can't tell you but i feel it. And its just as hard to photograph. So I can tell you these guys change color on me every time i look at them. And in creating them I'd wished I'd had more, realizing I wanted as little to interfere with showcasing the shells themselves as possible, so the design is minimal. They are hypnotic.
